When planning a trip, we always try to go off the beaten track and explore places that have been hitherto overlooked. Hence, when it was time to visit Goa; probably the most over-exposed destination in whole of India; I desperately tried to find a side of Goa that is still untouched. If you like to travel like a local; like I do; you will certainly agree that living in a home-stay is probably the best way to experience local lifestyle. Not only that, by striking up a conversation with the owner of the home-stay, one can often discover more about the place than a travel guide could offer.
After two days on the tourist infested beaches of North Goa, I was yearning to experience a more local side of Goa. A frantic search online led me to Afonso Guest House.

Goa – the sunshine state, one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. All through my adult life, I have often consciously avoided going to Goa for vacations simply coz I thought it to be a tourist infested, over-exposed destination. Whenever my friends planned that Goa trip, I would step in and manoeuvre it elsewhere. At other times, fate intervened and spared me the ennui of visiting tried-and-tested-Goa.
